From first port placement to teaching the next cohort.

The Society's courses are designed to be taken in sequence. Each step assumes the one before it and feeds the one after.

    Membership opens the video library, the protocols and the member rate on every course we run.

    Build the core skills

    The Curaçao Laparoscopic Course and the hands-on pre-conference wet lab cover the fundamentals on simulators and tissue.

    Watch the region operate

    Live surgery broadcasts and the video library let you see how colleagues handle the cases and the kit you actually have.

    Present your own work

    Submit an abstract, take a scientific session slot, and put your unit's outcomes in front of the region.

    Teach the next cohort

    Experienced members join the faculty for wet labs and courses, which is how the training capacity in the region grows.

Hands-on skills course with wet lab

Our flagship hands-on course. Surgeons and senior residents work through the core laparoscopic skill set on simulators and in the wet lab, under faculty who operate in the same resource setting they do.

  • Port placement, insufflation and safe entry
  • Camera navigation and the two-handed technique
  • Intracorporeal suturing and knot tying
  • Energy devices and haemostasis
  • Laparoscopic cholecystectomy and the critical view of safety

Hands-On Pre-Conference Course

Wet lab and practical endoscopy

Held the day before the Annual Scientific Conference. A morning of didactic teaching followed by supervised wet-lab operating, closing with certification.

Operations broadcast live into the auditorium with the operating surgeon talking through each decision, and the room able to ask questions as the case unfolds.
